Mission and Visions

The broad aims of the Chemistry Curriculum are to enable students to:

  1. develop interest and maintain a sense of wonder and curiosity about chemistry;
  2. construct and apply knowledge of chemistry, and appreciate the relationship between chemistry and other disciplines;
  3. appreciate and understand the evolutionary nature of science;
  4. develop skills for making scientific inquiries;
  5. develop the ability to think scientifically, critically and creatively, and solve problems individually and collaboratively in chemistry-related contexts;
  6. discuss science-related issues using the language of chemistry;
  7. make informed decisions and judgements on chemistry-related issues;
  8. develop open-mindedness, objectivity and pro-activeness;
  9. show appropriate awareness of working safely;
  10. understand and evaluate the social, ethical, economic, environmental and technological implications of chemistry, and develop an attitude of responsible citizenship.

Curriculum Highlights

  1. Our curriculum strictly adheres to the latest guidelines set by the Hong Kong Education Bureau (EDB) for New Senior Secondary (NSS) Chemistry.
  2. Students engage in a diverse range of practical experiments and hands-on activities conducted in our modern, well-equipped laboratories.
  3. We actively integrate a "reading to learn" approach, encouraging students to engage with a variety of scientific texts, research articles, news reports, and online resources related to chemistry.
  4. We strongly encourage and support student participation in highly regarded inter-school science competitions, including the Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition, the EDB Analytical Chemistry Competition for Secondary Schools, and the International Chemistry Olympiad.
  5. Visits are organized to university laboratories, advanced industrial sites, or scientific exhibitions.
